My Students: "Success is liking yourself, liking what you do, and liking how you do it.”-Maya Angelo. This quote could not be truer for myself and my students. When I can create fun, interactive and engaging lessons that draw my students in and they learn, then we are all successful.
The population I help nurture have extremely challenging lives. Many students only meal is when they eat at school. Some students are homeless and/or do not have a stable home life. But despite all of these challenges, ALL of my students want to learn and be cared for. They come to school to feel safe and know that there are people that want to help in any way we can. For this reason, I vow to make my students feel safe and secure. I want them all to work as hard as I will for them. They see this, feel this, and recognize not everyone is perfect but we can all strive to be better.
Kid President always asks, "What will you do to make the world more awesome?"
My response it teach.
My Project: The students require intense intervention and literacy support. The students have a learning disability in general education classes. The use of the tablets will support their literacy and math skills. The students will participate in an evidence based practice reading intervention program named Read Naturally. The students will access the online reading, vocabulary and comprehension through an app. They will receive immediate feedback which is an important factor in student growth. Students will also use the tablets in order to access virtual manipulatives and math apps that reinforce what is being taught. Students will be working on the Common Core State Standards which makes designing individualized lessons more accessible for educators. The tablet is simply a tool that will help the students achieve their goals.
As many people know, technology is the new era. Students must learn and have access to technology in order to be successful in life. Again, many of my students require financial support and cannot afford hi-tech devises. By attaining this donation of tablets, the students would not have to worry about not having technology at home. The use of technology decreases the cognitive demand and students are able to retain more. I know this donation will continue to help the student be successful.
